Alyssa // Springtime Portrait Session

“in Just-

spring          when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman
whistles          far          and wee”
-e.e. cummings
I will always think of e.e. cummings’ poem, “in Just-” when I think of springtime in South Carolina. My mother used to read it to me when I was little, making her voice appropriately “faaaar … and … weeee” at the  final lines of each stanza. It makes me think of jumping in puddles and tracking dirt all over the house.

‘Mud-luscious’ as spring might be, it’s hard not to love this season in the South. Finally, we get a break from the cold-without-snow weather that characterizes South Carolina winters, and have a few short, but lovely days before it gets miserably, unbearably hot. Everything is in full bloom near me, so what better time than now to schedule a portrait session?

Alyssa, a fellow photographer, model, and friend of mine, came to see me to take part in a personal series I’m working on, and we figured we would take advantage of the beautiful weather while it lasts. Enjoy these spring-y photos, because before you know it, the summer heat will be here!

When I think of spring, I always think of dogwood blossoms.

Alyssa’s dress was so spring-y – and I loved the detail on the back!
