MEET THE TEAM
We’re Hannah and Ryan Lockaby, the husband-and-wife team behind Hannah Woodard Photography. Here’s a little about us as a couple!
Hello! I’m Hannah Woodard Lockaby.
The obvious: I’m a photographer, based out of Spartanburg, South Carolina. I’m in love with documenting couples in love and finding beauty in the little things. While I’ve always loved taking photos ever since I pooled many months of allowance money to buy my first camera in the fifth grade, I started shooting professionally in 2012. I never pictured (pun not intended!) myself as a professional photographer when I was growing up, but as friends asked me to take their senior portraits or engagement photos, I started to feel that it was my calling. I’m never happier than when I’m able to document a real moment between people who love each other, or when I can bring out someone’s inner beauty and create a portrait that really captures who they are!
When I don’t have my camera in my hands, I’ve usually got them wrapped around a mug of coffee, a book, or my PS4 controller (blame that one on Ryan – he got me addicted to video games.) I also love going for walks and runs through the woods, or just hanging out with my two cats, Ollie and Swaine. I was an English major at Furman University, so I’m a bit of a bookworm. I love to draw inspiration for shoots from literature, music, and other forms of art.
Hi everyone! I’m Ryan, Hannah’s husband and photography assistant. I’ve enjoyed taking photos for most of my life. I remember buying my first dSLR camera in high school and bringing it to school just to take photos of my friends! As a Clemson graduate in Mechanical Engineering, I really love the technical side of photography – figuring out what settings to adjust to make a photo really come to life!
I’ve been working alongside Hannah since the inception of her business in 2012, but at first I had limited involvement due to working as an engineer full-time for a few years. Now we are trusting God to provide for our needs, as I have joined Hannah in her business full-time! My favorite photos to capture are the truly candid moments – the ones when people forget we’re even there. I also enjoy aerial photography and videography, captured on my DJI Phantom.
In my free time, I really enjoy gaming, especially any kind of racing game — from Forza to NASCAR or even a blast-from-the-past Mario Kart 64 experience (can you believe that game is 20 years old?!). My gaming collection spans four decades from the original Nintendo to PS4. I love to fly my Phantom for fun as well, so if I’m not capturing a wedding with it, chances are I’m flying my Phantom in our backyard and sharing the photos on Facebook.
Now that you know a little more about us, here’s more about what you can expect when you’re in front of our cameras.
