We’re Hannah and Ryan Lockaby, the husband-and-wife team behind Hannah Woodard Photography. Here’s a little about us as a couple!

Hello! I’m Hannah Woodard Lockaby.

The obvious: I’m a photographer, based out of Spartanburg, South Carolina. I’m in love with documenting couples in love and finding beauty in the little things. While I’ve always loved taking photos ever since I pooled many months of allowance money to buy my first camera in the fifth grade, I started shooting professionally in 2012. I never pictured myself as a professional photographer when I was growing up, or even as I majored in English at Furman University, but as friends asked me to take their senior portraits or engagement photos, I started to feel that it was my calling. I’m never happier than when I’m able to document a real moment between people who love each other, or when I can bring out someone’s inner beauty and create a portrait that really captures who they are!

When I don’t have my camera in my hands, I’ve usually got them wrapped around a mug of coffee, a book, or my PS4 controller (You can blame that one on Ryan – he got me addicted to video games.) You can also find me either working out or baking something super sweet in the kitchen (it’s all about balance, right?!) or just hanging out with our two cats, Ollie and Swaine. I’m definitely a nerd, so if you want to geek out over Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, sci fi, anything Disney related, or any kind of trivia that is fascinating but useless, I’m down!

ryan-hannah-headshots-_0003Hi everyone! I’m Ryan, Hannah’s husband and photography assistant. I’ve enjoyed taking photos for most of my life. I remember buying my first dSLR camera in high school and bringing it to school just to take photos of my friends! As a Clemson graduate in Mechanical Engineering, I really love the technical side of photography – figuring out what settings to adjust to make a photo really come to life!

I’ve been working alongside Hannah since the inception of her business in 2012, but at first I had limited involvement due to working as an engineer full-time for a few years. In 2016, I was able to take the plunge and join Hannah as her full-time assistant and second shooter! My favorite photos to capture are the truly candid moments – the ones when people forget we’re even there. I also enjoy aerial photography and videography, captured on my drone.

In my free time, I really enjoy gaming, especially any kind of racing game — from Forza to NASCAR or even a blast-from-the-past Mario Kart 64 experience (can you believe that game is 20 years old?!). My gaming collection spans four decades from the original Nintendo to PS4.  I love to fly my Phantom for fun as well, so if I’m not capturing a wedding with it, chances are I’m flying my Phantom in our backyard and sharing the photos on Facebook.

Now that you know a little more about us, here’s more about what you can expect when you’re in front of our cameras.
